Company Perk: Flex Time & Summer Hours

In August 2016, flex time was rolled out to expand opportunities for work place flexibility. This provides options for employees to move away from traditional core hours and create a schedule that is ideal for both them and their department.

Prior to the flex time roll out, employees were encouraged to work summer hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  Rather than working the standard hours of Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., employees’ schedules are modified. Hours are shifted to Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  This change in schedule empowers employees to get a jump start on the weekend to spend time with family and friends.

With the implementation of the flex time work arrangement, employees have the choice to work standard hours, summer hours, or an alternative schedule year-round.  This shift enables employees to continue to provide Beyond the expected® service to customers and maintain their ideal home life.

Keeping the company’s vision of customer service in mind, flex time provides employees flexibility to maintain job satisfaction and offers different avenues to achieve career-life fit.  To ensure all customer needs are continually being met, flex time arrangements vary per department and must be scheduled around core working hours, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

It is important to Pekin Insurance that we offer opportunities to our employees where they can have the greatest amount of satisfaction.  The flex time rollout was a great way to keep employees happy, provide flexibility amongst the workforce, and offer a perk that is becoming more prevalent in today’s society.
